The material in this collection is comprised mostly of printed items, meeting minutes, and print-outs of emails,etc. Of note is the folder of statements (in box 1) collected in 1939-1940 from women and men about their convictions regarding pacifism and/or conscientious objection to war.

The American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) was organized in June 1917 as an outgrowth of and coordination point for the anti-war and relief activities of various bodies of the Religious Society of Friends in the United States. A co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize in 1947, the AFSC continues to work to relieve human suffering and to find new approaches to world peace and non-violent social change.

Material is arranged primarily by date, except for material from the Rights of Conscience Program which requires a legal size box and is at the end of the collection.
