This collection is comprised of two accessions of the letters of Gilbert and Minnie Bowles. The collection is comprised of both private letters and public letters meant for circulation among Friends, written by Gilbert Bowles and his wife Minnie Bowles during their religious visits to India and Japan.
William W. Cadbury and Catharine J. Cadbury collection
The principal creators in the collection are Quakers William Warder Cadbury (1877-1959) and Catharine Jones Cadbury (1884-1970) who spent most of their lives in China. William Warder Cadbury came to China as a medical missionary in 1909.

Foreign Missionary Association Records
Records of the Foreign Missionary Association of the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, 1921-1953, include its Minutes (1882-1921) as well as the records of its Executive Board (1883-1923), International Committee (1918-1924), Young Women's Auxiliary and other Miscellaneous reports and correspondence (1883-1923). Also included are records from the Committee's Branches at Downingtown, Germantown, Haverford, Moorestown, Philadelphia and West Chester Meetings.
Fowler Orphanage Association Records
Fowler Orphanage (later Fowler Home for Girls) in Cairo, Egypt was founded in 1906 with money collected by John and Esther Fowler, both members of the Society of Friends. The Fowler Orphanage Association, afiliated with Ohio Yearly Meeting (Conservative), was formed in 1927 to provide support and met yearly until it was laid down in 1987. Collection includes minutes of the Association as well as related correspondence, financial records, and photographs.
Dorothy Franklin photo album
The collection consists of a photo album that documents Dorothy Franklin's missionary work in Bolivia and her travel in South America during the inter war period. There are 161 original photographs in the album, mostly taken during her time in South America, however the last four pages are also dedicated to Franklin's home life in the US and her family. The albums containts photos of landscapes, Franklin herself and her associates, llamas, and pictures from the Bible school.
